The Reasons  for The Silence of  Minority Rights Defenders in the Case of Tolikara

saharudin-damingEx-Komnas HAM member (National Commision of Human Rights) Saharudin Daming said that the silence of the defenders of  the rights of minorities to the injustice that afflicted  the Muslim minority in Tolikara is because the West does not pay for them to defend the rights of Muslim minorities.
“Because the Muslims in Papua do not belong to the minority group financed  by the West, they keep silent,” he said as reported by  Media Umat Tabloid Edition no 155: Tolikara, Gereja Hasut Separatisme (Tolikara, Church  Incite Separatism in Papua), Friday, 22 Shawwal – 5 Dzulqaidah 1436 H 7 – August 20, 2015.

Daming sharply criticized the human rights defenders of the rights of minority who frequently yell loudly if Muslims do something bad against theminority groups such as in the case of deviant sect Ahmadiyah.

” I want to ask, where are Ulil Absar and his friends now? Where are their voices to defend the right of minorities? Aren’t the Muslims in Papuabeing oppressed also the minority? “he asked rhetorically.

According to Daming, the case of Tolikara is a concrete evidence of how Muslims as a minority group are cruelly victimized.

“So I become more confident that that those who call themselves the activists that defend the rights of minority rights are sponsored by the West,” he added.

He also stated that what was carried out by Evangelical Church in Indonesia (GIDI) was too bold unless there was no support from various parties who have greater power. “So, I agree with the Chairman of BIN  Sutiyoso who said that there are foreign hands playing in he case,” he concluded. [] JP/RZ
