The journey to the stadium was extraordinary because we come from Surabaya to Jakarta (approximately 800 km) by bus, heavy traffic, many participants haven’t taken a bath, not to mention had to walk to the stadium but after seeing the enthusiasm of the participants, my tiredness went away ”

A Grandma and a baby at the Conference

I had a touching experience at the Khilafah Conference in Jakarta on Sunday, 2 June, 2013. I saw participants of all kinds, from  new born babies to  grandmothers. Incidentally, I also took with me my baby who is not even 2 months old. I was sitting beside a grandmother, whom I thought, is more than 70 years. She said, “Wow, a small baby as young as her is already taking part in the struggle. Amazing!” I then smiled and replied, “You are also amazing! SubhanAllah, a person like you is able to be present here.” The grandma replied, “Yes, I’m afraid I cannot witness the establishment of the khilafah. Many people have said, it’s establishment is still long away. So, I want to take part in this struggle. Hopefully, it is soon established”. I replied, “Yes, Amin. Only Allah who knows when the khilafah will be established. You can see here there are many muslims who are involved in this struggle. And not just in here, but in various regions in Indonesia, and in various countries around the world people are fighting for it. So, hopefully Allah will help establish it.” The grandmother nodded. When the event was over, the old woman shook hands with me, and I hurriedly kissed her hands. She kissed my forehead and said, “Yes,  pray for me young girl that I can witness it (the establishment of khilafah)” “Aamiin”. I felt really moved by her reply.

 

Can’t wait to attend the Conference

Before leaving to Jakarta to attend the Khilafah Conference, Kyaii UU Burhanuddin, an elder in Islamic Boarding School from  Jatinunggal Disctrict of Sumedang Regency – a city around 165 kms from Jakarta- had to gave a religious speech commemorating the Isra Miraj (Ascencion of Prophet Muhammad SAW). This is June 1, the eve of the conference. Because he really wanted to be present at the Khilafah Conference, he asked the conference committee who organized buses to Jakarta to wait until he finished giving the speech. He was almost left behind by the rest of entourage, which led him to shorten his speech and caught up with the rest by motorcycle with the help of his student, so that he can reach the point of departure. With his sweat dripping down his head, he thanked the committee.

 

 

 

 

From Garut to Jakarta with struggle

There was great enthusiasm and support from community leaders to the Khilafah Conference which was held in Jakarta. An elder from the Village of Karang Mulya, in Malangbong District, Garut Regency, Ustadz Djadjang AM, held a tasyakuran (Indonesia tradition of holding prayers inviting the neighbors) and distributed food to neighbors to ask for their support to attend and to pray for the success of Khilafah Conference which will be held by HTI in Jakarta.

Even though he has a relapse of his heart disease during the trip, he was so cooperative and sought to help the committee. He always encouraged the committee to be calm and patient, helped finding a parking place for the bus at the conference venue . Although he himself looked very tired, he still looked excited.

The day after the conference, early in the morning he expressed his impression of the conference, while encouraging all shabab to be patient in this struggle.
